LISA: (13-14 year old character) Lisa is a kindhearted young teen who has already discovered her passion in life: singing. She very much wants to be on Broadway, record etc., but her mother, who tried the same profession and failed, is extremely against her going for that unrealistic dream. Lisa tends, with Willie, however, to be a warm, almost maternal neighbor. Lisa must be able to move/dance well and sing very well. We want the audience to feel that she will, despite the odds, "make it." Her range is from low G to Eb, a 10th above middle C. Her featured solo song has a belted or mixed B. Lisa has been played by an African-American actress for the past two years, and if possible, the producers would like to cast an actress with a strong ethnic-look.
