WHAT?  WHERE?  WHEN?

Magical Music for Life Foundation is thrilled to present its 7th annual TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE benefit concert Sunday, May 6, 2018 on Broadway between 46th & 47th Streets in Times Square at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In keeping with our mission to better the lives of children through the use of music, the purpose of this concert is to introduce our free water safety album songs, foster awareness of our music and touring shows for children, and to raise financial support for our ongoing outreach and production of free music for children with autism and special needs.

The event will be a continuous sing-a-thon, where talented children and groups from seven states will come together to share the same stage with over 60 Broadway performers from most of the current shows and many past shows.

Online and at the event there will be many exciting items in the auction & raffle, including tickets to Broadway shows / other events often with backstage tours and/or signed memorabilia, travel, dining, unique & autographed items, etc. Go to:

WHY?

May is water safety month and Magical Music for Life’s TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE is raising funds to complete the production of their new water safety and basic swimming skills album and continue our outreach efforts for children with and without autism and special needs. Following the success of our free album and musical revue, A Day in the Life of a Child, which teaches social and life skills to children with and without autism and other special needs, Magical Music was asked to write and produce a water safety teaching album. We are excited to take on this project, because drowning is a major cause of death and injury for young children. For children with autism through the age of 14 and other children under 4, drowning is the primary cause of death; and it is the second leading cause of death for children under 14. For every child who dies from drowning, another 5 receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries; these injuries can cause severe brain damage that may result in long-term disabilities such as memory problems, learning disabilities, and permanent loss of basic functioning.
Magical Music’s mission is to better the lives of children through the impactful and extraordinary power of music. Through these water safety songs which will be available for free, Magical Music strives to help save lives in the future.

THANK YOU 2017

HUGS TO EVERYONE for EVERYTHING!!

Clip AAIt is impossible to express how thankful we are to all of you who participated in making this an amazing event this year … despite the “iffy” weather!  However, we will try with the following SHOUT OUT list below (in no particular order).   (Thank yous to the youth performers and groups include the parents too.)  THANK YOU to …

  • All the performers – returning and new – professional and amateur!  You provided your own sunshine when it rained and everyone shined throughout the day.  Your spirit was infectious.  It is always amazing to us that despite the weather or distance (this year many of you coming from Colorado, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia), you show what it means that “the show must go on!”
  • We missed the two of you who were sick and could not make it.  Hope you are well now and to see you next year.
  • NCDA – Thank you for your financial and spirited support in spite of the fact that your dance troupe could not perform.  See you in 2018.
  • Alex Curtis (doing two numbers from his show CHALK) and Bronwyn Tarboton who both signed on at the “last minute” to fill an unexpected gap.
  • Our volunteer coordinators, Connie Piotroski and Liz Keogh, who organized the volunteers for the day.
  • Clip BBLaura Badaracco for helping with logistics.
  • Robin Guynn’s help with the bio cards and her family’s amazing efforts with clean up and haul away after the event.
  • Mindy Poon for helping me before the event and as our Broadway stage tent coordinator for both shifts at TUNES.
  • All the volunteers who worked the day of the event.  We especially appreciate all those who came to help set up and broke down – these are not the fun jobs, but so needed.
  • Carter Norton for her help with the TUNES “to do” list items and running the performance / stage aspect of the event.
  • Samantha O’Brien for volunteering all day to help with the music and keep things running smoothly.
  • Gary Vorwald for volunteering to take photos all day – rain or shine – and posting the photos for everyone to have for free.
  • Clip CCJason Sommers – our amazing emcee – along with the cast members from Magical Music’s The Adventures of Zak.
  • Jay Morascini for joining us every year to do the sound and stage.
  • The Magical Music Two Little Snowflakes, A Day in the Life of a Child Troupe, and Magical Music Singers.
  • Our water safety song singers who performed frequently during the day.
  • Don Rickenback and Carter Norton for their preparation with the different Magical Music singing groups.
  • The American Swiss Ballet – a welcome new addition.
  • Joe Baker and the Broadway Youth Ensemble – great to have you at TUNES again.
  • Lorah Haskins for her rehearsal space and bringing The Studio singers.
  • Our “expert” tent set-up team – P. J. and Zak Tokash.
  • The A Bronx Tale cast & “crew” and Chazz Palminteri for making a special appearance.
  • Kathryn Crum who did the social media for our event and worked the auction tent all day in addition to singing.
  • National Charity League for blowing up and bagging the balloons.
  • Everyone who picked up and drove in balloons and boxes – Zibby Perkins, Liz Keogh, the D’Onofrios, Tracie Curcio, and John Crum (who also drove back into NYC to take boxes back to CT).
  • Joseph Baker, Monica & Gaby Bradbury, Tracy Butler, Annie Chun, Josh Franklin, Lorah Haskins, Jodi Loverro, Corey Mach, Matt Melucci, Kim & Jim Moye, Jim Musante, Samantha O’Brien, Gianna Palminteri, Don Rickenback, the Turchins, and Gary Vorwald for recommending performers.
  • Everyone who “advertised” the event on their social media, etc., as well as, encouraged donations to be made and friends to come.
  • Everyone who pledged individually and as a group, including the Broadway performers who donated pledges and/or merchandise for the auction/raffle and in some cases bid on the items.
  • All of the contributors during and after TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE.
  • All those who bid on the auction.
